Inspired to offer a line of refined stationery using a complex combination of techniques, Kirby Woodson created Feather as a collaborative venture between herself and several other artists. Like Petite Alma, Woodson's other studio (and another Tiny Prints partner!), Feather combines several design styles and graphic looks into one collaborative effort geared toward offering the most fashionable, fun and stylish products on the market today. In a world that is becoming increasingly casual, Feather strives to revive a style that is posh and presentable, both on paper and in life. Under Kirby's creative direction, she and her artistic companions at Feather present their classic and elegant designs in an understated way, creating a sophisticated line of stationery that manages to be both painterly and poetic.
IN THE PRESS:
Feather has been highlighted on The Early Show and in several renowned publications, including Domino, Today, Daily Candy, The Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Town and Country, InStyle Magazine and Urban Baby.
THE LOST ART OF LETTER WRITING:
"I look at old letters from past generations, and I find them so charming. A person's handwriting adds volume to a letter. Emails can be interpreted so many different ways, and I think a lot gets lost or misinterpreted in the message. If we don't revive the art of letter writing, I think it's a sign that our communication skills are declining rather than improving."
WHAT'S IN A NAME:
Since Kirby's grandmother was part Cherokee Indian, Kirby spent her childhood as a member of a father-daughter club called Indian Princesses. As a part of the club, they all had Native American names. Kirby's was "Little Feather," and she says she named her new line Feather in remembrance of her determined, strong, stylish and giving grandmother.
