Smudge Ink owners and designers, Kate Saliba and Deb Bastien, launched their business in 2002. Originally focused on bold, colorful letterpress greeting cards and custom invitations, Smudge Ink's product line has expanded to include recyclable shopping bags, desk accessories and offset greeting cards—all of which reflect the same bold style and vibrant aesthetic for which Smudge Ink has become famous. A working letterpress studio, the Smudge Ink design studio is currently located in a renovated textile factory on the Mystic River in historic Charlestown, Massachusetts. The company's unique products are sold worldwide.
IN THE PRESS:
Smudge Ink has been featured in Real Simple, Oprah Magazine, The Knot Magazine, Redbook and many other fine publications
MODERN MUSES:
"To sit down and design anything, we must have ample time outside hiking, skiing, sailing and gardening."
MOST MEMORABLE STATIONERY:
Kate's most memorable holiday card was from Deb. A few years after college, Deb drew a winter scene of a woman hiking up a snow-covered trail in the dead of winter. It was beautiful. The drawing captured the feeling of being on a winter hike—one Deb's most favorite things to do. Somehow she reproduced the image and bound it to the front of all of her holiday cards that year. Kate was lucky enough to get one!
