EVERYDAY INSPIRATION:

"Inspiration is vast and varied. Probably the most influential of which is early 19th Century Japanese Woodcuts—the large collection at the Art Institute of Chicago and access to that collection had a big impact on my love of the simplified form, clean lines and saturated color.

Walks around Chicago in the spring and fall are where so much of my inspiration comes from these days. I live in a historic neighborhood near Lake Michigan. The gorgeous old homes surrounded by small urban gardens are twice as beautiful after an icy cold Chicago winter. When you have just a little bit of land to work with, you choose what you really love. Design is often about choice and my neighborhood reminds me of that."

STATIONERY LOVE:

"I have a wonderful collection of etiquette books from the turn of the century. I love the social stationery chapters of these books where it describes the proper size of a calling card based on your marital status. It is a great reminder that the exchange of cards and invitations is a time honored tradition. I love tradition."
