The Significance of the Communion
One of the most familiar traditions of the Christian church is the practice of Communion. Each time the bread and wine is taken, it is "in remembrance" of the last Passover meal that Jesus shared with His followers. The early church reenacted this ceremony after Jesus ascended, remembering his death and resurrection, and as early as the beginning of the second century we see it mentioned in the Didache, which gave instructions for Baptism and other practices as well.
