Thank You Cards
When you send birth announcements, invite friends to a birthday party or throw a baby shower, most guests bring or send gifts for the occasion. Thank you notes that match the style and theme of your event are the perfect way to show your appreciation for their generosity. You can also include a handwritten personal note of thanks on your note or inside the card. Plus, if your child is old enough, helping them write and send thank you cards is a fun way to encourage thoughtfulness early on. Browse our Thank You Cards selection below and find that one that fits your style.
Why to Send
Thank you notes are appropriate ways to express gratitude for gifts, attendance at special events and all other acts of generosity from family and friends. Favors such as hosting an overnight sleepover for your kids, throwing a party in your honor, and giving birthday or holiday presents all qualify as kind acts that deserve to be personally acknowledged with handwritten thank you notes.
When to Send
If possible, write your note on the day you receive the gift or as soon as possible. However, it is never too late to send a thank you note.
Thank You Note Sample Verses and Wording
To make a thank you note sincere, always start by mentioning something specific about the gift. Generic statements like, "Thank you for your generosity," are considered impersonal and artificial.
Example:
Dear Polly,
Thank you for the musical Elmo doll you bought for Christina. She plays with it all the time, and it's become her favorite toy to play with before bedtime. You certainly know how to pick out presents for children!
See you at the next get together,
Sincerely,
Laura
Children and Thank You Notes
There are many ways to encourage your child to thank guests for gifts. You can write a message on the thank you card for your child, guide your children's hands while they compose the message or simply allow them to sign their names at the conclusion of your message. When they are old enough to write on their own, you can help them compose a thank you note by writing out words that are difficult to spell. These steps are great ways to ensure that your children will enjoy writing personal thank you notes on their own as they grow up.
