The pizzazz and intensity of Christmas are often what make it so enjoyable, but it’s sometimes fun to take it down a notch and enjoy a relaxing, classy celebration instead. Perhaps when the children are grown and old, you could make a few changes in the way you do Christmas, making it a little more high-class and sophisticated. Here are a few ideas how to make that happen.
Whether we’re talking about hanging lights on the house, around the banisters or around the Christmas tree, white lights give a touch of class. You could also reconsider the decorations you use all together, swapping out Santas and reindeer for nativities and holly berries. Not only can white lights subdue the typical loud noise of Christmas decorations, they add ambience to a celebration that is meant to be classier.
With children in the picture, it’s always fun to add red, white and green decorations to your Christmas card, or to come up with a funny photo. Once in a while, however, it’s nice to send out a black Christmas card with perhaps some gentle snowflakes in the background, or simply an elegant family photo. Your friends and family will get plenty of flashy Christmas cards, which will make your chic card stand out even more.
Make Christmas more meaningful and special with a fancy, sit-down dinner. Ask the family to change out of the pajamas they’ve been lounging in all day, and to put on something casual for a nice dinner. Either have it catered, or prepare a little ahead of time so you’re not stressed on Christmas day, but make sure it’s a menu that everyone will enjoy and appreciate after a day of snacking on treats and goodies.
Christmas does not have to be a time you stress over, and it doesn’t have to give you a headache. Before you pull out the singing snowmen and colorful, blinking lights, decide whether or not you’d rather try a touch of class this year. It might be just the relaxing celebration you need right now.
