When you begin thinking of highlights throughout the year to share on your Christmas card, there is a good chance your summer vacation or getaway will pop to the front of your mind. If this was a time that you and the family got to spend special moments together, then, by all means, bring your summer vacation to the holidays.
A beautiful way to incorporate your getaway is to display portraits you may have had taken while there. Did you spend time with a photographer posing for group photos on the beach or with another telling background of your destination? If so, add an image with the whole clan as the centerpiece, and then include individual shots of the family or various combinations around it. Family portraits taken on vacation tend to offer a livelier energy than those taken in a studio.
Not everyone takes time out on vacation for a photo session, of course, but chances are you took plenty of candid shots along the way. There is no rule saying you need to stick with portraits; create a collage filled with a variety of moments that stood out on your vacation. For cohesion, consider using a theme. Perhaps feature adventures where you showcase photos taken on your various activities such as horseback riding, catching waves, hiking and any other excursion that may have filled your days.
Add an extra bit of life to your design by incorporating vibrant frames and backgrounds. Green holiday cards can complement a summer scene and enhance seasonal photos in a clean, fresh manner. For sandy images, a neutral tone might be a strong fit. If your vacation was all about having fun, convey that with brightly colored text and whimsical fonts.
The holidays may take place in the cooler months, but you can certainly warm up your wishes with a touch of summer.
