Why You Should Avoid Sending a Greeting Card With Your Picture on It

It used to be common to go into the local department store and choose a pack or two of holiday cards to send to friends and family, but in recent years, it has become more popular to create your own cards online. Many people who choose to design their own cards online include a picture of family, pets or other things that are important to them, but there are actually good reasons to avoid including a photo.

You Didn’t Have Time to Get One Taken Professionally

When designing your own cards, it is important to have a high-quality photograph that won’t look grainy or disproportionate on the provided card dimensions. If you rush to take one with your cell phone or a cheap digital camera, your photograph probably won’t be a good match for a card. Unfortunately, busy schedules mean it’s often hard for the entire family to get together with a professional photographer. Don’t feel you have to go out of your way for a picture. There are plenty of options for no photo new years cards.

You Aren’t Close With the People You’re Sending Cards To

If you are sending cards to non-family that you aren’t very close to, you may opt to forego your family photos in favor of something a little more traditional. Many people will not keep the card for more than a few weeks, so hiring a professional photographer may be a waste of money if you aren’t sending to grandparents or close family friends. In addition, some types of cards do not require envelopes, which may leave your children’s faces or family home exposed to anyone who comes across the card during the mailing process.

What to Send Instead

Luckily, you can still send a unique greeting for the new year when you use one of the no photo new years cards from Tiny Prints. Sending a card without a family leaves your choices wide open, so feel free to choose from favorites such as the gorgeous Shimmering Season or the uniquely designed Starting Anew card.

Customer reviews of our No Photo Happy New Year Cards

December 16, 2013Tri fold

"with the extensive help of Brady and Janelle (because of my out-of-the-normal design format, nothing to do with product), my cards were wonderful. Many, many complements."

December 15, 2013Love the Trifold

"My only reason for rating Design as a 4 is that there are other combinations of single and multiple photos and text that I would like to see, but clearly you can't offer EVERY possible combination! What I do like is the option of adding some text on top of the photos, so that we can label each photo without having to devote a whole panel to text. This year we tried the semi-gloss finish and like it very much!"

September 11, 2013Very Special Beautiful Card

"I have never had no many compliments on a card. This is an exceptionally beautiful card. I don't know how I'm going to top it next year! Printing and delivery was super quick which was great as I had procrastinated ordering. Thank you!!"

December 24, 2012Tri-fold Card

"I loved every single thing about this card- it was beautiful and I received a ton of compliments on it!! The ONLY thing I wish was a bit different was that there was a bit more sheen to the card itself. It is so flat/matte that the colors are more subdue. It would look over the top professional if they just added a little touch of gloss to the card stock. However, I still very much loved this card!"
