Don’t Go Wrong with Your Holiday Cards This Year

With the holidays come the annual traditions that you, like many, may question the necessity of. One such tradition that many sadly let fall to the wayside is the sending of a holiday card. You may view your holiday card as little more than a reminder to the many people that you may know that you and your family and still around (and thus, should likely be included on their holiday gift lists). Rather, it’s an expression of both your excitement for the season as well as the love and gratitude you fell towards your recipients.

Holiday Card Etiquette

Yet even understanding the purpose of your holiday cards doesn’t guarantee that you can’t go wrong with them. Poor planning can leave you scrambling at the last minute to complete your cards and leave your recipients with a subpar creation that makes them feel they’re not worth enough to you for you to invest the time and effort in making a memorable holiday keepsake. Never fear, however; such mistakes can easily be avoided by sticking to tried-and-true holiday card etiquette, such as:

  • When to create your cards: In order to ensure that they’re ready to be sent in time for the holidays, you should start the process of creating your cards no later than the middle of October.
  • When to send your cards: Ideally, your cards should reach their recipients by the first week of December to allow them time to reply and or include you and your family on their holiday shopping lists. Therefore, look to send your cards out by mid-November.
  • What to include: Your card’s recipients want to know how you and your family are doing. Incorporating a photo into the card shows this, alongside a brief holiday greeting (letterpress holiday cards are great for this). Consider including a brief one-two paragraph summary of what occurred with your family throughout the year that can be reprinted and included with every card.

Notify of Upcoming Events

One more thing to remember: your holiday card also presents you with the perfect opportunity to give the special people in your life a “Head’s Up” on important events that may be happening in the coming year. If you have a wedding planned or a family member that will be graduating, take the chance to notify everyone be including an announcement card along with your holiday well-wishes.

December 14, 2014Stunning Card

"These cards arrived within 5 days of ordering (without an expedited request or charge)!!! They're absolutely beautiful with a heavy card stock. The picture was clear without having that strange shimmer that other cheaper cards seem to show. I definitely recommend this card!"
